Bible verses about homosexuality and their interpretations
Leviticus 18:22 & 20:13
It can be said that Leviticus has two popular statements about this act, including:
- “Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.”
- “If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”
Some reckon that both verses are not blaming homosexual behavior, but merely the cultic prostitution linked with pagan temples.
“They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.””
This verse is all about the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, a giving warning tale about the iniquity of homosexuality. Additionally, some reckon that this immoral sex happening in them was rape. That means it doesn’t apply to educations on consensual same-sex relationships.

This verse blames the act of going back up what a person’s natural sexual viewpoint indeed is. Hence, if it’s natural for an individual to be attracted to someone of the same sex, it might be “unnatural” for anyone to go against their homosexual opinion.
Additionally, you should notice two MAIN truths in Romans 1:26-27, including:
- Homosexual desire is not what God initially intended.
- Our unclear desires are a signal that we have turned away from God.
1 Timothy 1:8-10
“We know that the law is good if one uses it properly.”
“We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murders,”
“for the sexual immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers – and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine”
In this verse, you will find out some forms of behavior that characterize those who are not “just” and for whom the law was talked about in order to bring belief of sin and the demand for mercy.
And all the practices dispute “sound doctrine” and the gospel since they don’t adapt to the life that the Christians are now to follow. Moreover, they go against the nature of the new identity we have in Christ.

Questions and answers about homosexuality in the Bible
Is a person born homosexual?
Indeed, the Bible doesn’t explain the biology of homosexual demands, though it recognizes that we are born with a tendency to turn back what God orders. According to Romans 7:21-25, the Bible forbids homosexual acts instead of concentrating on the cause.
What causes a homosexual viewpoint?
It’s not an easy issue. Normally, people start as heterosexuals, yet they begin to go against God with such loving self-indulgence. From there, they might end up holding the gay lifestyle as another form of sexual expression.
Additionally, familiar relationships are essential to establish the homosexual viewpoint. Those who struggled with same-sex allure experienced a serious relationship with the same-sex parent in childhood.
According to a study, 91% of lesbian related to childhood and adolescent abuse. That means 2/3 of them are victims of sexual abuse.
But, between predisposition that influences gender identity and the selection we make to control a predisposition, we are able to choose how to react to the different factors that might create a homosexual viewpoint.
Will homosexuals be condemned to hell?
First of all, you should know that this issue is not related to “hell or heaven.” The only deciding factor is whether you have been settled with God or not.
In 1 Corinthian 6, homosexual law-breakers and a list of other wrongdoers cannot enter the kingdom of God. But if the Corinthians have been sanctified, washed, and justified, they can inherit this kingdom.
“Once gay, always gay,” is it true?
Homosexuals never turn back heterosexuals since most of them don’t want it. Or assume they want, but their efforts were not successful. According to Romans 12:2, this issue takes much emotional work and spiritual submission to regret of sexual sin and acquire a healthy image of self.
How do we know homosexual is natural and moral or unnatural and immoral?
In Romans 1, although homosexual cravings feel natural, they are indeed unnatural. It’s because God says they are. Hence, any form of homosexual acts, whether a longstanding monogamous or one-night stand relationship, is known immoral.
Am I gay if I have an early homosexual experience?
An early sexual experience might be hurtful or enjoyable, but either way, it forms the child abuse. Although this harms a child or teen deeply, it doesn’t mean you’re gay.
At first, it’s possibly made you feel ashamed or confused, which is a proper response to an unsuitable behavior. But, keep in mind that since God created your bodies to react to pleasure, don’t allow anyone to tell you as gay.
